Just when the rescue team was hesitating, a tragedy occurred. Thai Navy SEAL Saman, who was delivering oxygen tanks into the cave, lost consciousness due to lack of oxygen. His teammates immediately began resuscitation efforts, but sadly, Saman was declared dead at the age of only 38.

Everyone realized they had to make a quick decision – swimming out of the cave was the only choice. They had to take a chance. What made things worse was the weather forecast, which predicted continuous heavy rain for the next three to four days. This would undoubtedly lead to more flooding inside the cave, severely impacting the rescue operation. They were running out of time, so the decision was made to sedate the children. This way, they would be unconscious and carried out by rescue personnel, avoiding potential struggles and panic during the underwater journey.

This was an unprecedented and audacious proposal. Doctors had to enter the cave to sedate the children, but they were not trained divers. How could they get inside? To address this challenge, the two British experts found an Australian doctor named Harris, who was both a cave diver and an anesthetist. At 53 years old, Harris had nearly 30 years of cave diving experience.

When Harris was asked over the phone what would happen if he didn't go, the British experts replied that they would all die. Harris was initially reluctant to take the risk, but he couldn't stand by without helping. So he immediately traveled to Thailand.
