Today, if you don't drive this pile down, it's fine. But if you do, there will definitely be a significant change in Shanghai," the master warned before turning to leave, leaving the person in charge deeply unsettled.

However, this was a task handed down from higher authorities, and it couldn't simply be left unfinished. But considering what the master had said, the person in charge urgently contacted the design institute to inquire if it was possible to modify the design plans and relocate the construction site.

Construction designs are highly precise and extensively calculated. With construction already halfway completed, how could they change the design plans now? And who would bear the costs incurred by the changes?

Upon hearing the master's words relayed by the person in charge, the technical staff at the design institute were infuriated. The technical engineers did not endorse such claims; they believed it was merely a technical issue. Therefore, the next day, they brought in more experts, intending to collectively tackle this challenging problem. Unfortunately, their efforts proved futile.

The municipal design institute, Shanghai Urban Construction Design Institute, and other engineering companies involved in the project mobilized their technical expertise repeatedly, but the piles still couldn't be driven in. With no other option, the construction site had to be temporarily halted once again.

Moreover, the earlier rumor about the dragon vein began circulating discreetly at the construction site. Could it be that there was indeed a dragon vein beneath? Should they consider bringing in someone powerful to examine the situation?

In the meantime, the project manager made persistent efforts to persuade the leaders of the design institute. Finally, they decided to invite another expert.

This Feng Shui master was renowned in both Shanghai and Hong Kong, possessing an air of wisdom and elegance. After a meticulous examination of the construction site, he furrowed his brows and remained silent for a long while.

Later, the master informed the project manager that because this area was situated on a dragon vein, it would attract many spiritual beings. The current situation was that a dragon was coiled beneath the ground, and the large steel drill happened to be drilling into the dragon. This not only prevented the drilling but also caused the soil brought up to contain blood.

The project manager, feeling anxious, asked, "What should we do, then?"

The construction schedule could not afford any delays. The master told the project manager that unless there was a way to move the dragon beneath, it would be impossible to proceed.

The project manager urgently sought the master's assistance, but the master initially refused, warning of severe consequences. He admitted his limitations, stating that he could not resolve such a significant matter.

The project manager pleaded repeatedly, but the master remained silent with closed eyes. After a moment of contemplation, he recommended someone. Who was this person?

This person was the Zen Master from the Jade Buddha Temple.

When the experts in engineering heard that they were considering inviting a monk to solve the engineering problem, they were outraged. They viewed it as mockery of science and technology. In an age when science was highly advanced, where humanity could reach the moon, turning to monks and deities for solutions to an engineering challenge seemed like submission to feudal superstition.

They decided to invite a diverse group of technical experts to tackle the issue. The city's leaders took charge, determined to ensure that the main pile was driven successfully without delaying the entire project.

Despite the gathering of technical elites and their various attempts, the problematic pile remained unmovable. Even when they managed to drive it partially, it fell far short of the design standards and project requirements.

As the project deadline approached, the situation grew increasingly dire.

Faced with this challenging predicament, the then Shanghai Party Secretary had no choice. After deliberation, he personally went to the Jade Buddha Temple in Shanghai to invite the venerable Zen Master out of seclusion.

Upon learning of the situation, the Zen Master realized that this was no ordinary technical difficulty. After a moment of contemplation, he stated that he needed some time to prepare to ensure a foolproof solution.

Three days later, the Zen Master arrived at the construction site, which had already been cordoned off with curtains.

After examining the site, the Zen Master did not say much but wore a solemn expression.

The Zen Master, with only one sentence, "Heaven's secrets must not be divulged," departed.

The project manager was left bewildered by this statement and hurriedly sought counsel from his own master. After much persuasion, the master convinced the Zen Master to reveal the truth.

As it turned out, the underground dwelling where the construction was taking place was indeed the resting place of a Jiaolong, just as the other master had mentioned. Therefore, every attempt to drive the piles was met with resistance from the Jiaolong. If the pile-driving succeeded, it had to be done while the Jiaolong was away, with the belief that the hanging nine-dragon column was one of its kin, so it wouldn't inquire further.

The Zen Master then calculated the times when the Jiaolong would be away and conducted a ritual. This would enable the pile-driving to proceed. After all preparations were in place, the Zen Master, along with his disciples, arrived at the construction site and performed a special ceremony, offering incense and prayers.

This ritual lasted for three days and three nights. After the chanting concluded, the Zen Master informed the project manager of the specific timing for the pile-driving. With all instructions clear, the Zen Master, with the support of his disciples, departed.

Initially, the construction team had sought the Zen Master as a last resort, but what was unexpected was that, during the time frame specified by the Zen Master, they actually managed to drive the piles successfully. Moreover, it was done with precision, meeting the design standards perfectly.

However, it was said that as the columns penetrated the rock layers, red magma flowed out.

The party secretary went joyfully to thank the venerable monk, bearing gifts. With a worn expression, the abbot made one request of the secretary - to inscribe nine dragons on the large column.

This, perhaps, could help mitigate some of the losses. The party secretary readily agreed.

At the time, the incident was kept a closely guarded secret, and hardly anyone knew about it.

Approximately six months later, the Zen Master passed away.
